Ritchie Bros. begins using timed auctions for some smaller items
03/07/2010

Starting this month at some auction sites, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, will sell equipment attachments, consumer goods and other smaller items by timed auction. A timed auction is held over the Internet, with no auctioneer. Bidders will place bids online at rbauction.com, using the Internet kiosks or free public wireless available at most auction sites or by proxy. Bidding in the timed auctions is open for several days and bids close at set times during the corresponding live auction.

Prospective bidders can find out whether an item is being sold in the live auction or by timed auction by looking at the item details page on the www.rbauction.com Web site, checking the sale day listing catalog or by looking for a “Timed Auction Lot” sticker on the item.
